Public
park lakes are normally subjected to intensive use with heavy
nutrient loading from public use and from large water fowl
populations. In most cases, budgetary constraints do not allow
for the level of maintenance required to keep tthe system in
ballance.
The
Lake Consultant must allow for these adverse factors and provide
the design of a lake system that can be sustained as a high
quality aquatic amenity within a reasonable program of lake
maintenance.
Lake
rehabilitaion requires an understanding of the science of Limnology,
the study of inland waters (lakes), with emphasis on the lake
eutrophication process, its causative factors and mechanisms
as well as the available and applicable preventative measures. |
